Borrowed Boat Insurance - US based regattas only

STAR BORROWED BOAT INSURANCE APPLICATION

ISCYRA carries an insurance policy that allows borrowed boats to be insured. This program is a valuable member benefit available to all current members and registered boats. To use the program, the borrower visits STAR BORROWED BOAT INSURANCE and pays the $75 fee. The borrower agrees to pay a $250 deductible per occurance (not the event), payable to ISCYRA if damage occurs.

Insurance MUST be purchased before racing begins.
Policy excludes:

Sails
Masts, booms and whisker poles
Transportation to/from repair facility

This program ONLY covers events in the United States.

Details: $250 deductible per vessel with 1 million total hull and liability coverage.

On-site for Regatta Organizers AT REGISTRATION:
a. IN PERSON: Have the owner or his representative fill out the first part of the form, make sure it is signed by the owner and the borrower. Collect the borrowed boat insurance fee of $75.00, a check payable to ISCYRA for the $250 deductile and forward both to the ISCYRA office.
b. ONLINE: If they pay online they need to provide proof of payment (email confirmation from the Star Class office). Also, collect a check paid to ISCYRA for thr $250 insurance deductible . Attache email confirmation and check to thsi form and keep somewhere safe until there is damage or the event is over.
AFTER THE EVENT: Inspect the boat for damage.
1. If there is no damage: Great!
2. If there is damage estimated to be $250 or less:The borrower and owner must come to an agreement on resolving the damage. Write down the resolution. The borrower will pay directly for the repairs.
3. If there is damage estimated to be greater than $250:

Take photographs and prepare a written description of the damage and the circumstances that caused the damage. Contact the Star Class Office (619-224-6998) and notify them of the damage. Submit the completed claim form (claim form link on this page), photographs and the $250 damage deposit check (payable to ISCYRA) to the Star Class office (2812 Canon Street, San Diego, CA 92106).

d. The insurance deductible of $250 is a per occurrence per vessel. Meaning, if you have several collisions over the course of the event, each is treated individually.
