          Green Star                                                    Sam Hopkins

          Tri District Trophy                                        John MacCausland

          CBYRA High Point                                         John Vanderhoff

District Secretaries Travelin’ Trophy              Sam Hopkins

Discussion was initiated concerning 2009 events, specifically, the Blue Star, Green Star and the Tri-District Qualifier.  John made the point that he wants to hold the Blue Star at TAYC on August 8-9 in conjunction with the Oxford Summer Regatta.  Participation needs to be improved at this event and the trophy, donated by Sir Thomas Lipton, is the oldest on the bay and the event should not be lost.  Concerns about the impact on qualification for the 2010 World’s in Rio as this is scheduled at the same time as the 2009 World’s and conflict with the Log Canoe Regatta was discussed.  Consensus that this was the best date was reached.  The Green Star is to be held in conjunction with the MRYC Summer Regatta.  Discussion concerning the Tri-District Qualifier arrived at the decision that it would be held with the Lippincott Memorial on 16-17 May 2009.

Fleet Reports

CB Fleet-No representative

ES Fleet-No Representative

NCB Fleet-6 Active, 3 Associate and 1 Life member.  Still racing on Thursday nights.

CR Fleet-Continues on in their own little river.  4-5 Life members

MES Fleet-Wednesday night racing is strong.  There is a new RC for the Wednesday night

Series.  Attendance at weekend events is down.  What would get more boats out on weekends?  Social after the regattas at the MRYC club is good.  Still scratchin’ their heads.  Possibly try one day regattas.  Comments by other meeting attendees suggests that this will get poor reception for traveling boats.

AN Fleet-18 boats in the fleet with 10-12 racing on a regular basis

New Business

General agreement that more and shorter courses are better for regattas and should be tried based on wind conditions, attendance and ISCYRA compliance.

Many thanks to Kris Wilson for the work she has done and will continue to do on the District website.  Please send pictures and stories for publication

The team of Vanderhoff and Perkins will be completing their term as District Secretary and Assistant District Secretary.  Please get nominations in for new blood.

2010 District Meeting to be held in Havre de Grace at the Laurrapin Grille.  Larry Parrotta to handle scheduling.  Details to follow.

John MacCausland reported the SparCraft in NC is in the process of tooling up to produce masts for Star boats.  Many thanx to Dick Gates from SparTech for consulting work to speed the learning curve along.  Flex characteristics similar to an Emmeti.  Hardware similar also.  Cost around $4000.00.  Hope to have them on the water for Bacardi Cup.

Meeting adjourned
