The 2008 Lippincott Memorial - Sailed May 17th & 18th at the Annapolis Yacht Club, Annapolis, Maryland

After a rainy Friday, Saturday brought warmer, sunny weather with 15+ knots of breeze to start off the Lippincott Memorial Regatta.  Nine Star boats sailed two races on the Chesapeake Bay in the vicinity of Thomas Point Light.

The wind dropped after the first beat and stayed in the 10 – 12 knot range until the sail back.  Here gusts were sufficient for planing now and then on the prevailing Southwesterly. It was a great day on the water. Kevin McNeil and Arnis Baltins were leading and Henry Filter and Brent Osterbye trailing by two points.  

 The Sunday forecast was for more breeze with rain coming in by noon. This turned out to be the case as the wind was close to 20 knots with much more chop. Kevin was over early but restarted and worked his way back to second in the race, allowing him to capture First Place as well as the Master’s trophy.

Annapolis Yacht Club provided excellent race committee and a very tasty Saturday evening dinner.
