48 Xmas Regatta - Historical Event

 
Eighteen boats from seven nations competed in the 48th Xmas Regatta which was organized by the Club Nautique de Nice. Six races were sailed over three days. The first day was cloudy with 15 knots of north wind, and swelling sea. The wind was only 6 knots on the second day, becoming light, with some clouds and swell. The third day brought sun and a good north wind of 12 knots for the 2 last races in a flat sea.

The winners were the Italians Luca Modena and Sergio Lambertenghi, with 12 pts (2,3,(6), 5,1,1) This is the fifth time they have won the Nice Xmas Regatta.

The past International President Riccardo Simoneschi was present at the prize giving and was nominated as a Honorary Member of the Club Nautique de Nice for his excellent job at the head of the Star Class. The French Sailing Federation President, Jean-Pierre Champion, also attended the ceremony.
