Recent 2004 District 6 and 2004 Vancouver Island Fleet champion, Rich Mundell, with Gus Farrar (a seasoned Continental Divide Fleet Star sailor) crewing, continued 6560's winning ways when they won Thermopylae, sailed out of the Royal Victoria Yacht Cub over the weekend of October 16-17, 2004, in Victoria, B.C. Rich and Gus, in 6560, Rich's Buchan, "White Noise", finished one point ahead of Paul Callan and Canadian 470 Olympian, Jeff Eckard, in 6983, Paul's Matson, "Sight Unseen". Third was VI Fleet Secretary and "fleet-father", Rick Townshend, with Eric Morch crewing, in Rick's Carlsson, 6254. A light day on Saturday (2 races only) was replaced with 25-30 knot conditions Sunday. The RC abandoned after completing only one race, for a total of 3 for the series.
