| The wind gods seemed to toy with us in the morning. A very light breeze out of the East (not a good direction from pretty much anywhere on our beautiful bay) started building to 5-6 kts for the first race on Saturday. It continued to build to around 9-10 kts out of the south/southeast for the third race of the day. John MacCausland continually gave us a sailing lesson today, hitting all the shifts and just plain doing everything right. The rest of us worked very hard to keep each other in check. The wind gods took Sunday off and after a tow to the racing area and lengthy picnic and swim in the bay the race committee finally called it a day. Gunti Weissenberger and Chris Brown won the Novice Trophy, Tom Price and Will Wagner won the Master Trophy and Aaron Serinis with Joe Balderson won the under 7000 award. Many thanks to the Race committee for a job well done, to Gunti and Claudia Weissenberger for the Friday evening cookout, the Gibson Island Club for a wonderful dinner and old movie, and to Denver for the Sunday afternoon dock party. |
