| The 79th Annual Lorain Sailing & Yacht Club Regatta, at Lorain, Ohio (just west of Cleveland), was held under mostly sunny skies, with very strong winds, and big Lake Erie waves. The racing was exciting and close, with only one point separating the first second, and third place boats after the three Saturday races. Mike Phinney, with Brad Balmert crewing, won the fourth and final race on Sunday, in winds exceeding 20 knots. That was enough to clich the regatta, as the last scheduled race was cancelled because the winds and waves continued to build. |
