The bigger "puffs" were reported at 40 knots! 10 boats were participating this Blue Star event held September 5-7th. Only one mast went down but there were quite a few wipeouts. A skipper fell out of his boat during the race, came back to finish 2nd in the next race. On the way in he wiped out again, holding on fast to the tiller, it broke off and went in the drink with him! In the worst incident of the day both team members went in the lake, less a fingertip that got wrapped up in the jib sheet, the Star sailed off on it's own for a minute or so then center punched a rock wall! The unfortunate crew was taken to the hospital where they stitched up his damaged digits. Conditions on Sunday were similar to the previous two days. Having plenty of tales to tell of wild times out sailing Stars, they decided before launching the boats to have a barbeque instead. Even the crew with the missing fingertip was there to enjoy the feast!
