District 2 Regatta Report | Fri Apr 25th, 2008 through Sun Apr 27th, 2008 |
Bob Oberg and Mike Zuschnitt, winners of the 2008 Annapolis NOOD Regatta |
| |
The 2008 Annapolis NOOD regatta began with a sunny day and light Northeasterly breezes. Sails filled the horizon and the Stars were given the course closest to the Western shore. This meant go left if there are any signs of an ebb tide, but not always! After the first day Bob Oberg and Mike Zuschnitt were leading comfortably with a three point margin. Same conditions held for day two with maybe a bit more breeze. The leaders extended their margin to 11 points, which almost assured them of a first place. The next four boats were within two points of each other, so the second and third places were definitely in contention. Sunday, the last day of racing, came with a Northeasterly of about 15 knots, spotty rain and temperatures at least 15 degrees colder. Racers bundled up with foul weather gear and the Star crews were happy that they could now be on the high side of the boat. Bob and Mike maintained their first place positions, John Vanderhoff and Adam Dolezal finished second, Tom Doran and David Parry from New York finished third. |
