2013 Taca Bruder

Sailed at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Report by Lars Grael:

On Sunday came the race in honor of one of the biggest myths of Brazilian Sailing, Jorg Bruder. In addition to being a triple world champion in the Finn, he was was Vice-World Champion in the Star and friend of Dino Pascolato.

In strong winds with gusts, the course was along Parcel das Feiticeiras and the "ICRJ pool". We were leading with the buoy off the stern when we were betrayed by the PBO runner that broke, forcing us to withdraw from the race in order to save the mast. The leadership passed to André Luis (Culé) and Bira Mattos (sailing Folli 8463 belonging to R. Conrad), who, after leading, ended up losing the race in the mouth of the "pool" of ICRJ in front of a balcony full of members and admirers of sailing. The victory went to Carlinhos Dohnert / Alex Kunze in 7770 showing who is knowledgeable of the quirks of Botafogo Bay. Carlinhos is the coordinator of the Star Class in Rio de Janeiro and besides being very good people and a great sailor, has been the European Champion in windsurfing.
