2007 Bedford Pitcher

Sailed at the Cedar Point Yacht Club, Westport, Connecticut, USA.

Twelve boats from six fleets and 4 districts showed up for the Bedford Pitcher. Three races were run on Saturday and two races were scheduled for Sunday. However, the wind cut out in the middle of the last race of the day and was abandoned.

Altogether, this was a light-air series in which the current played a major factor in making decisions as to which way to go. For the first race on Saturday Guy Gurney, sailing the Hornos’ boat with Luis crewing, figured out the right way to go and led the fleet round the course. Rick Merriman, with Kevin Murphy as crew, must have been a quick study because from that point on he took the rest of the bullets.
