Report by Rick Burgess: The 57th Tomahawk regatta was sailed this week-end at Lake Hopatcong, NJ. 15 boats from Canada, Eastern Shore of Maryland, Seneca Lake and Cooper River, New Jersey arrived on Friday. John Finch delivered woodie number 6404 to Stu Miller and the two of them teamed up to sail the regatta. They did not win, but you will notice they got better in each race. Speaking of racing we were treated to two days of a nice 5 to 12 mph southerly wind which on Lake Hopatcong is as good as it gets. This was my 49 consecutive Tomahawk and you might think I'm a little biased and you are probably right, but the entire membership is nothing but fantastic and really makes everyone feel at home. Sailing with John Mac is always a treat and I guess it was our week-end, but watching my son Richard Jr hang right in there is just something special for this old sailor. So please put this event on your 2016 calendar, you will not be disappointed. |
