The Commodore Senator Dr. Luer Preis is the fifth and final regatta of the Star boats for the West German Championship. The regatta series begins with the Spring Trophy also on the Baldeney. Not only the high ranking points and the sporting value of this regatta, but also the great sailors party on Saturday evening are reasons for often very long journeys to Yacht Club Ruhr Essen.
Report from the Essen-fleet by Christian Muellejans, translated by Uwe Hannemann and Leo. They all came to sail the last races in 2014 in this area from Germany. It was the first time this event was sailed within 3 days. Friday the 3th of October, the day of German unity, we had the best weather you can have in October but no wind. So the sailors enjoyed the nice place around the bar, sponsored by Landfuerst and Joerg Mellis and played the nearby positioned kicker. On Saturday we had a lot of wind and we were happy to sail 4 races directly before the clubhouse. It was not an easy job for our international race-officer Stefan Giesen, but he managed it very well. We used the first winds in the morning and passed the finish with the last push of wind. The best sailors on this day were the brothers Dominik and Simon Fallais from Aachen, they sailed 2, 1, 10 and 2. They did not count the 10th, so they won with 5 points before Frank Tusch 7 and Sander Jorrissen 9. On Sunday there was again no wind to sail, so we could bid farewell very early to all the sailors who came a long journey to Essen. At least there was an opulent award ceremony where they all could see a lot of stars. Best regards and welcome in 2015. |
