RACE 1 The regatta started off with great conditions, Sunny and 15-18 miles per hour from the south to start the day. 2013 Star World Champion John MacCausland/ Kevin Murphy, Rick Dhein/ Rick Burgess and Gardner Gendron/ Mike Huffman broke out from the pack on the first leg with MacCausland getting to the weather mark first. On the downwind leg Gendron lost the rig as the wind started to build and become the first casualty of the day. MacCausland won the race followed by Dhein and Kenny Woods in third. RACE 2 The wind started to build to 18 to 22, with the race committee setting a course 4, 2 mile windward beat. MacCausland/ Murphy, Bob Krahulik/ Chris Rogers and Ed Gardner/ Kip Gardner broke away from the pack finishing in that order around the first windward mark. On the downwind leg with the wind building to 20 to 25, MacCausland, Krahulik and Gardner continued to separate from the fleet with two more rigs going down in the building breeze. MacCausland went on to win the race with Krahulik beating out Gardner by a boat length for second. RACE 3 Sunday the wind started out at 8 to 12 out of the south. In the first race Bob Krahulik lead World Champion John MacCausland to the windward mark with Ed Gardner rounding in third. On the downwind leg MacCausland caught Krahulik with Gardner in third. On the second beat MacCausland and Krahulik pulled away as they dueled for the lead. As they approached the mark the wind shifted hard to the right as MacCausland rounded first, followed by Krahulik and Lauren Barth/ John Barth. On the downwind leg they finished in that same order. For The regatta John MacCausland won with a 1,1,1 -3 pts, 2nd Place Lauren Barth 5,4,3 – 12pts, 3rd Place Rick Dhein 2,6,7 -15 pts. |
