| Internationale Deutsche Meisterschaft 2012
sailed at the Yachtclub Radolfzell IDM 2012 started windy and autumnal. On Oct. 4 the first race started at 4-5 Beaufort. With some collisions and breakage, the field was decimated for the second race unfortunately. The favorites Robert Stanjek/ Frithjof Kleen and Johannes Polgar / Marcus Koy were at the front of the field, closely followed by Hubert Merkelbach with Gerrit Bartel. The second day started with summer temperatures at 3 Beaufort. The race committee had to fight thr wind shifts of 30-40 °, which is why the start of the 4 race was delayed repeatedly. The patience of the participants was slightly put to the test. On the third day, it looked very confident from the beginning. The wind forecasts were promising, the temperatures quite comfortable at 24 ° C. Around 1330 the West Wind arrived, and the 5th Race was started at 4-5 Beaufort from SW. Robert Stanjek/ Frithjof Kleen, Helge and Jesper Spehr, and Ulrich Vater / Carsten Witt had BFDs. Thus the way was open for Marcus Johannes Polgar and Koy to win before the last race of 2012 and be the German champions n the Star class. Towards evening the wind died so that the 6th Race couldnot be started now and the last day will bring the decision to the 2nd place. Last Day: After a general recall with a black flag in which only one boat could be properly recognized although a number of boats on the start line were over but covered from sight, the last race was started on Sunday at 10:30. The wind conditions were very good again with a constant wind from 260 ° and 2-3 Beaufort. After about 1h20 min Simon Fallais and Tim Elsner won just in front ofre Robert Stanjek/ Krithjof Kleen. With the second place in the final race, the 2012 Olympian secured second place at the German championships with Reinhard Schmidt and Niels Hentschel in third. The best Bodensee crew was Juerg Wittich with Christian Trachsel in a respectable fourth place. |
