Nice Xmas Regatta 2010

The 54th Nice International Christmas Regatta was really international : 27 Stars from 9 countries made the trip from all over Europe, in spite of the very bad and snowy weather conditions : Russia (5000 km return!), Ukraina (almost the same), Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, our neighbours from Monaco, and France. Plus crews from Estonia Portugal and Australia. 5 races were held in three days,in light conditions, wind 9 to 5 knots from North, in the early morning. The Spanish team Fernando Garcia Lago/Jano Toro Prieto Pugo had to wait till the last race race to win the series, with Andrea Orlando/Jean-Gabriel Charton from Monaco second, and Konstantin Datsenko/Ilya Bazurin from Ukraina third. Olivier Godefroy/Alar Volmer were 4th and received the prize for the first French boat : a cowbell! Graham and Philip Bailey from Great Britain finished 5th. Social parties were great, with a highlight on the Champagne-a-gogo night at Julia and Graham Bailey's place. And plans were made for the organization of the Star Centennial Regatta in Saint-Tropez next October. photo by www.myriambloch.com
