Knute Lee 1930-2014

Knute Diedrich Lee, 85, of Fair Hill, MD, died in Colora, Maryland, on July 13, 2014. Son of the late Arthur and Frederika Lee, he is survived by his dear companion Ellen Torrey, his children Arthur Jeduthan Lee, Lucile Adele Lee, Julia Lee Carlson, Robin Andrew Lee, and five grandchildren. Knute is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Wellington Lee, and sister, Ingeborg Lee Muller.

A military veteran, Knute served as a lieutenant in the United States Army during the Korean War. Passionate about art, life, and especially sailing, Knute was a past US Sailing Judge and Umpire. A life member of the New York Yacht Club and the International Star Class YRA, Knute was a member of The Catboat Association, past member of North East River YC, Bellport Bay YC, and The Corinthians.

Possessed of a joyful zest for living, Knute brought vibrancy to everything he did. A memorial service will be held in Bellport, NY, August 9, 2014, at 1:00pm.
