Hannes Gubler from Zurich, Switzerland has been appointed as Chairman of the Technical Advisory Board (TAB).

Hannes is a very well respected consultant and civil engineer in his country. His long sailing and technical career started in 1945 when he became a member of Zuercher Segel Clubs. From 1954 to 1970, he held the position of Fleet Secretary of the Zuerichsee Star Fleet and, in 1958, he became an ISCYRA Certified Measurer. He served as the Assistant District Secretary of the 17th district from 1969 to 1976 and a member of the ISCYRA Measurement Committee from 1972 to 1986. In 1987, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Technical Committee of the ISCYRA until 1993. Hannes has also served as the Chairman of the Swiss Sailing Federation, USY, from 1977 to 1981 and head of the Olympic Delegation of the USY team at the Olympic Games in Kingston. He is currently an ISAF International Judge.

Hannes is a calm, opinionated forward thinker and a devoted member of the Star Class. I am confident that he will work consistently with the other members of the TAB. I am pleased to welcome him and all the members of the TAB and wish all of them all the best.
