Good news - Keelboats selected for 2012

ISAF Council voted this morning to select Men's Keelboats as an Olympic Event for 2012. In the 2012 Olympic Games will be Mens - Windsurfer, 1 person dinghy, 1 person heavyweight dinghy, 2 person dinghy, 2 person High performance Dinghy, and Keelboats!! In the end, Council rejected Events Committee slate and voted for individual events.

ISAF Council will now vote for the specific 2012 Classes in November of 2008. The Star certainly has a leg up, but other, perhaps higher performance keelboats may be considered as well.

Womens Events include Windsurfer, 1 person dingy, 2 person dinghy, and keelboat Match Racing.

Claude Bonanni, Hermann Weiler, Alex Hagen and John Koopman joined me in Estoril in this effort. Past Star class Presidents Riccardo Simoneschi and Dierk Thomsen along with Harry Adler and Carlo Rolandi also were instrumental in our success. Thanks to each of them.
