Four major regattas before June 1st keeps the Central Office quite busy with entry approvals, dues renewals, new boat certificates and questions galore! I think I am looking forward to August for some down time!
The South American Championship completed just after Bacardi Cup in March. Twelve boats sailed in the beautiful waters of Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro Brazil. Lars Grael and his committee did a great job showing everyone a great time.
The European Championship starts tomorrow (12 April) in San Remo Italy with 78 entries. This should be a great regatta. Claude and I visited San Remo last fall and it is a beautiful town. Everything in walking distance to the Club!
There are 84 entries for the Worlds in Hyeres. Regis Berenguier and his band of Frenchmen have been very busy preparing for your arrival! Four more countries get picked for the Olympics at the Worlds so this should be prove to be exciting for those attending and entertaining for those of us who are just watching. The Annual Meeting will take place 3 May at Hyeres. Please be sure you have your Delegate/Proxy form back to the Central office by 20 April. The resolutions to be voted on are posted on the Class website.
In Annapolis we are getting ready for the Western Hemisphere Championship in May. You can still attend—the entry deadline is 26 April! Come on, you know you want to come to Annapolis!
The regatta I am most looking forward to is the Eastern Hemisphere Championship in Gdynia, Poland. It will take place during Gdynia Sailing Week. I do hope that the European Star Sailors are planning to get to this fun event. We should have the NOR and entry form up shortly. Keep a look out!
The 2012 Log is in production and should be in the mail shortly. Membership cards have been sent to your Fleet Secretaries and life keeps driving to weather here in the office.
The Board would like to take this opportunity to thank A J Jakubowska for serving on the Judiciary Board and to welcome Marko Hasche and Jay Tyson to the Board. Lars Grael will serve as Chairman of the Judiciary Board for 2012.
See you on the water!
Best regards,
Barbara Beigel-Vosbury
