Star Class Life Member Barton Beek passed away January 2, 2010 in a hospital in Houston. He is survived by his wife Linda, sons Star Class Life member Charles “Chuck” Beek, Barton Beek, Jr., Joe Beek, and daughters Carroll Beek McCallum and Barbara Lyon.
He was a long-time Star sailor from Newport Beach, CA and supporter of junior sailing through CISA and other organizations. Tough as nails, he once rowed a dory from Newport to Avalon on his 70th birthday, but also was an exceedingly caring and kind individual.
