Dear Members,

I cannot believe it is mid June already! The racing schedule is in full swing!

First, thank you to everyone who sends the results, write ups and photos of your regattas to Melinda for posting. Remember, our website is a reflection of you, the member, and your events. Without this information our site would be stagnant. So keep up the good work!

A few things about championship regattas:

Log Plus Infinity means that a fleet must comply with all of the requirements of the Log as well as the member. As soon as these requirements are met the fleet can send as many entries to a Silver Star that they would like to send.

Entries. We have stepped up to the next level of entry systems for our class, online entries. For the competitor this means that your entry is automatically (barring a computer glitch) sent to the Central office as well as the organizer. Less work for you! If you choose to use the old entry form, that is okay, just remember that we require you to send two (2) entries, one to the Organizer and one to the Central office. Fleet and/or district officers still need to approve your entry. The Central office will accept an email from your officer in lieu of his/her signature.

Isolated Members. Isolated members entries need to be approved by the Class Management Committee for Silver Star Championships. For World Championships the rules allow a competitor to qualify for the Worlds three ways: Fleet (not available to Isolated members), District (available to Isolated members—just contact your District Secretary) and Silver Stars. The CMC also needs to approve Isolated entries for World Championships but would prefer to see members (especially Isolated members) out there competing, so come on out an join the fun, and while you are there you can probably qualify for the Worlds. Remember approval from the CMC for the World Championship is not guaranteed!

ISAF World Cup. The new ISAF World Cup is in full swing and has drawn a great deal of interest from our members. We are happy to see this and we would imagine that ISAF is also. Please don’t forget about your regular Star schedule while you are sailing in the World Cup! It is important to support your Fleet and your District. Sailing in the World Cup will not excuse your trying to qualify through proper regular channels for Star Class Championships.

Smooth (and fast) sailing!

Best regards,
Barbara Beigel-Vosbury
Executive Director
