President Simoneschi

Dear Fellow Star Class Members,

Through a long cooperative discussion with ISAF, we have determined the final qualification procedure for the 2003 ISAF World Championship in Cadiz. All entries must be received in the Central Office by 1 June 2003. The entry fee of US350.00 must accompany the standard Star Class entry form. Qualification is by normal Star Class Rules, (STCR 29.1 through 29.4), i.e., most recent Fleet, District, or Silver Star qualifier and per the ISAF Notice of Race for the 2003 ISAF Olympic World Sailing Championships, http://www.mundovela.com/isaf/anuncio%20regata/anuncio.htm. Of course, former World Champions are exempt. The Central Office will verify the entries and submit them to ISAF, who will have the final say to their eligibility within this test event. There will be no Gold Star awarded. This will be the only Star Class World Championship in 2003.

All approved entries must bring to Cadiz their boat's valid Measurement, Yacht Weight and Buoyancy Test Certificates, as well as proof of insurance, per the notice of race.

The maximum number of boats allowed on the starting line will be 120. We will probably not reach this number and anticipate that everyone qualifying will be accommodated.

The 2003 Annual Meeting will be in Cadiz. Qualification for the 2004 Worlds will be under normal Star Class rules.

The officers of the Class feel this is a fair resolution with ISAF for Cadiz 2003. Perhaps we can learn from this year’s Worlds to improve our own qualifying system and format.

Sincerely,

Riccardo Simoneschi
President
